Lori Ochs is a Licensed Certified Social Worker - Clinical (LCSW-C) who treats children, families, couples and individuals, she has been a guest lecturer at the University Of Maryland Graduate School Of Social Work.

Lori started the practice in 2015, with a deep desire to blend her mental health training with Biblical truth and the power of healing that only Jesus can provide.  In addition to being licensed by the state of Maryland as an LCSW-C, Lori is also a Board Certified Professional Christian Counselor (BCPCC) and a Maryland Board Approved Clinical Supervisor.  Lori also is an AACC member and she agrees to and upholds the  AACC (American Association of Christian Counselors) code of ethics, and believes in applying Biblical truth in the work that she does. Lori has engaged community outreach and given talks at local churches about Christian counseling, and what it means to uphold the AACC code of ethics, to provide guidance based on scripture, and to be consistent with the word of God.

Lori specializes in individual, couples, and family therapy with a strong focus on cognitive behavioral, insight oriented, family systems, and strengths-based treatment. Lori has extensive experience in the treatment of eating disorders and has worked at the Center for Eating Disorders, which is now part of the Shepard Pratt Health System. She has also lead in the development and facilitation of community programs in Carroll County in the areas of eating disorder treatment, awareness and prevention.

 

Lori believes in bringing problems in to the light and applying biblical truth.  She sees her role as an encourager:  lending hope to the hopeless, prescribing interventions, teaching healthy coping skills, and challenging old ways of thinking.   Lori's view is that therapy is the method, but that only Jesus is the healer. Lori believes that each individual client is unique, has individual needs and areas in which they desire growth, and wants to meet them where they are in their life. Lori welcomes people from all walks of life, regardless of where they are in their faith journey.  Lori brings sensitivity with her clinical training along with the love and grace of Jesus in her heart.  When Lori is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and children, hosting dinners and game nights, reading and studying the Bible, serving the homeless, going on bike rides, and being the loudest cheerleader in the parent section of youth sports.
